PA: GOTV in Philly and the Suburbs
Shannon Brett, America Votes' Deputy Campaign Manager, writes this blog post from Philadelphia, PA.
On Sunday night, I loaded up the car and headed out to join the America Votes Independent Expenditure team in Philadelphia, PA. Once I hit the ground, the running began. Jeff Garis, the AV PA Political Director sat me down and we went over all of the IE work in the state, most of which is centered around Philadelphia and the suburbs in Congressional Districts PA-6, PA-7, and PA-8.
On Monday, Jeff and I drove out to the PA-8 staging location for Penn Action and helped with a bunch of projects, from quality control to shuttling some folks to the office from the local transit station before sitting down with the senior team on site. From talking through Election Day planning and staffing to turf cutting the America Votes/Penn Action team got to work.

Tuesday brought another two site visits, this time with Common Concerns, a project of Progressive Future. Jeff and I visited their Ardmore and Morton locations, where they send canvassers out into the field to cover PA-6 and PA-7. We sat down with the teams in each location and went over their programs, talking through their script transitions as they move into GOTV and their actual Election Day plans. They highlighted some additional data needs and we put the AV PA Data Staffer Brett on the case.
America Votes-CO Canvass 10/23
America Votes-CO volunteers joined with our partners to send hundreds out to knock on doors for progressive candidates.
America Votes President Joan Fitz-Gerald joined AV-CO staff and volunteers for a great day of door knocking!
Volunteers met at six staging locations in Denver and Fort Collins for breakfast and training then hit the doors, talking to Coloradoans about the importance of getting out the vote!
Early Vote opened in Colorado on October 18, so voters can cast their ballot now! For more information on where and when to vote in Colorado, visit the website for the CO Secretary of State.
We'd like to thank the partners who helped make this day possible: AFL-CIO, Clean Water Action, Colorado Progressive Action, Environment Colorado, NARAL, New Era Colorado, Justice for All, Planned Parenthood, Progressive Future, Rocky Mountain Voter Outreach, and Working America.
