What is the America Votes State Summit?
America Votes invites you to participate in this year's State Summit to take an inside look at the issues in 2014 and beyond.
The Summit will bring together state-based and national progressive leaders and operatives for a unique review of past campaigns and to preview the upcoming issue and political landscape for 2014 and beyond. The agenda will feature perspectives from many renowned progressive leaders who will analyze 2014's biggest hurdles and what it means for the progressive movement as we gear up for another election cycle. The Summit will also feature practitioner-led breakout sessions on many topics, including hot issues for 2014 and state-specific strategy discussions.
How do I get to The Walter E. Washington Convention Center?
The Washington Convention Center is located at 801 Mount Vernon Place NW, on the corner of M St. and 7th St. NW. The Mt Vernon Square/7th St. Convention Center metro stop (yellow/green lines) is located on site and is the easiest way to get to the location outside the immediate area. To use the Metro rail system, you must purchase a farecard prior to boarding the train. You may purchase farecards at each of the Metro stations. For help planning your route and fare, see the Metro Trip Planner.
What are the times for the Summit?
On the first day of the Summit (Feb. 4), registration will begin at 8:30am and events will begin at 12:00pm (lunch begins at 11:30am), ending at 5:00pm. For those attending the Latino Communications Summit, the event will begin at 9:00am. ***Admission to the Latino Communicaiton Summit is included with registration to the AV State Summit. A reception will follow the closing of Day 1, starting at 6PM at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters which is located at 25 Louisiana Drive NW.
On the second day (Feb. 4), registration begins at 8:30AM. Events will begin at 9am and conclude at 4pm, with a closing happy hour across the street at Baby Wale from 4:30pm - 6:30pm.
What is the weather like in Washington, DC in February?
February in Washington, DC can be chilly. The average temperatures are a high of 47 and a low of 31.
What meals will be provided during the Summit?
On the first day a lunch and a snack will be served. On the second day breakfast, lunch and a snack will be served. There will be a reception on the first evening with light hors d'oeuvres.
